YEAR 4

Spring 2:

Magpie Manor

This half term Year 4 has done an amazing job at putting on a spectacular show. All of them put in 100% effort, whether it was learning lines, dance routines, when and where to be on stage and what props were needed for each character.

Throughout the half-term, they have put in a huge number of rehearsals every day to pull off what we believe to have been a spectacular show!

Well done everyone!

Spring 1:

This half-term year 4 have been reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as our class book. The children first explored the front cover and the blurb to create their predictions onto a wardrobe, thinking about the characters that may be involved and the storyline.

Were any of your predictions correct now we have finished the book?

We have also been looking into the Anglo-Saxons and their everyday life and habits. The children created their own design for their shields based on Anglo-Saxon designs and colour patterns. They were put up on display to show their amazing work!

Autumn 2:

Year 4 had the amazing opportunity to visit Colchester Castle to round up our learning about the Romans. They were extremely well-behaved and represented Warren Primary positively.

We got the chance to build and replicate two houses from the Roman era from scratch by following a set of instructions.

The children explored the museum which contained artefacts and historical objects, as well as completing a quiz based on what they could see.

We got the chance to go underneath the castle to explore the tunnels and archways, and were given a tour by an expert about what the tunnels used to be and the historical evidence found.

Autumn 1:

This half term has seen us focus on ‘The Romans.’ We have looked at how the Romans attempted, several times and then finally invaded Britain,

We have looked at how archaeologists have put together pieces they have found to create a picture of what life was like during this time.

One of our activities was to complete our own archaeological dig. This enabled us to find different artefacts and identify their origin.
