In Year 6, as part of our living things topic, we have been learning about micro-organisms. We have been finding out about the difference between fungi, bacteria and protists.

Year 6 have been writing in preparation for Remembrance day memorial. They have used a range of skills to create an image of the conditions that soldiers were exposed to, during WWI. Using a photograph, taken from historical sources, Year 6 considered what it may have been like for soldiers, in this specific moment, taking into account what they would see, hear, smell, feel and taste. They included a range of powerful and descriptive language, allowing the reader to have a sense of what life would have been like, at this time.

Year 6, we have been learning about the UK in Geography, recognizing both the human and physical features of the landscape. We have been looking at local historical maps and considering how the land has changed in the last hundred years and the reasons for these changes occurring. We have been identifying some of the local landmarks on Ordnance Survey maps. We also considered the amenities that would improve the local area and considered who would benefit from these changes taking place, with the likelihood of them arising.

In Year 6, we have been learning how to incorporate perspective into our art work, through the use of vanishing points.
