World Book Day 2026

Fun times were had by all the children and staff
On Thursday 5th March, the whole school celebrated World Book Day. Children were invited to dress up as their favourite book character and they enjoyed taking part in lots of book-based activities.
Children and some of the wider community all had the opportunity to visit our pre-loved book sale which was a great success raising £341 for new books for the library.
We also had some guests visiting us from Barclays Bank who ran a readathon with the KS2 children reading with over 200 children.
As many staff as possible dressed as Where's Wally and Mrs Emmerman organised a Where's Wally photo sheet so that the children could find all the Staff who were dressed as Wally.
Year 3 and Year 5 pupils had lots of fun during their visit to Waterstones bookstore in Lakeside and experienced the pleasure of being surrounded by books for the whole morning/afternoon. Waterstones staff read to the children, and they had the chance to browse the store and purchase a new book with their WBD voucher.
Year 6 had the opportunity to participate in some book-themed baking and thoroughly enjoyed tasting the results.
All the children and staff had a thoroughly enjoyable day, immersing themselves in an array of wonderful literature.
