Summer Reading Challenge

We were delighted to welcome Cheryl from Thurrock Library Services, who visited our school to introduce this year's Summer Reading Challenge.

Organised by The Reading Agency, the challenge encourages children to keep reading throughout the summer holidays by borrowing books from their local library. Children can choose any library books they enjoy, including e-books and e-audiobooks borrowed through BorrowBox.
This year's exciting theme is "Read to the Beat." As children progress through the challenge, they collect stickers and rewards. Those who read six books receive a certificate and an eco-friendly wooden medal, while children who complete eight books also earn a limited-edition book bag. There is also a special mini challenge for preschool children.
We're also hoping lots of our pupils will take part, as every primary school in Thurrock has the chance to win the Summer Reading Challenge Shield, awarded to the school with the highest number of children who complete the challenge.
We hope to see lots of our children taking part this summer – happy reading!
