Black History Month at Warren

Pupils and staff at Warren came together throughout October to celebrate Black History Month, taking part in a range of engaging and educational activities designed to recognise the achievements, contributions and experiences of Black people throughout history and today.

A particular highlight of the month was the series of special guest speakers who visited the school to share their personal stories, experiences and expertise with pupils. The visitors spoke about their careers, cultural heritage and the importance of resilience, ambition and equality, inspiring children to believe in their own potential.

Throughout the month, pupils had the opportunity to ask questions, participate in discussions and learn about influential Black figures who have helped shape history, science, sport, the arts and public life. The speakers encouraged children to celebrate diversity and embrace the values of respect, inclusion and understanding.

Classrooms across the school explored Black history through literature, art, music and research projects, creating meaningful opportunities for pupils to deepen their understanding of different cultures and perspectives.

Mrs Urenna Nnajiuba

Our first Black History Month guest speaker was Mrs Urenna Nnajiuba, a successful solicitor (LLB Hons) and the founder of her passion project, Renzwear UK. Through her business, she designs and creates African fashion clothing that blends vibrant African heritage with modern aesthetics, offering a fresh and contemporary perspective on fashion. Mrs Nnajiuba inspired pupils by sharing how she successfully balances a full-time legal career with developing and growing her creative passion.
