Primary Admissions
Normal point of entry Reception Primary Admissions
If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
Thurrock Council normally processes applications on the basis of the child's home address at the time of application and offer. The home address is the address where the child is a permanent resident, or where the child is ordinarily resident. This is usually the address of the parent or carer with parental responsibility. The adult with whom the child is ordinarily resident would receive the child benefit for the child.
Please note that Warren Primary School does not have a designated priority catchment area. Children will be admitted in line with our admissions criteria stated in the School Admission policy at the bottom of this page. In brief, this means that (in the event of over-subscription) priority will be given in the following order to: "Looked after children"; children of Trust Staff; children with siblings at the school; children living the closest distance to the school as calculated by the Local Authority and described in the current Primary Education in Thurrock booklet.
For more information regarding when you should apply please read Thurrock Council’s Admissions Timetable.
Late applications
Any application received after the closing date will be treated as a late application. This means there will be far less chance of your child being offered a place at the school you want. Thurrock Council process late applications only after they have processed all the on-time applications. If you have already applied online you will not be able to make another application. Contact Thurrock Council if you feel you need to make another application or to send evidence that your application was late due to exceptional circumstances.
In year admissions:
If you want to apply for a primary school place outside the usual times, you must make an in-year admission application.
Apply for in-year admission if:
- you have moved within Thurrock and would like a more local school
- you have just moved into Thurrock
- you live in Thurrock and wish to move from home education to school education
- you live in Thurrock and wish to move from a fee-paying school to a state funded school

In year appeal Dates & Information 2025/2026
If you have not been offered a place following an in-year application, the law entitles you to appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel. This panel is completely independent of the school and the Local Authority. In accordance with the 2022 School Admission Appeals Code Appeals, the admission authority and appeal panels have elected for all admissions appeals to be held online.
If you wish to appeal, please use the links below to complete your appeal online.
Please do NOT use ANY other appeal form or send your form to your local authority. It is highly recommended that you download the explanatory booklet about appeals which you should read before you complete the appeal form.
If your appeal is for years Reception, year 1 or year 2, you are strongly advised to read the section on Key Stage 1 appeals on page 18.
You should include any evidence or supporting material with your appeal form and you MUST state the grounds of your appeal at the time you lodge your appeal form. Your appeal form will not be accepted unless you give the grounds of your appeal. You may appeal for more than one school but please complete a separate appeal form for each school you wish to appeal. No photographs of your child will be accepted.
Please note that the online form will ask you to download two utility bills dated in the last THREE months. If you do not have access to a scanner, please take two photographs using a mobile phone and upload the photographic files.
